Rally to Restore Sanity

This rally was amazing.   It's too bad it wasn't aired on others channels so that more people could see it!    But, the mainstream media doesn't want you to see stuff like this.   The media wants to make people fearful of everything.  Because people that are scared are easier to CONTROL.   Stewart said if you amplify everything, you can't hear anything.--That's what the media wants, and Fox is especially good at inciting hate and fear.

Jon Stewart was trying to wake people up to the fact that we need to realize we're all different, and we need to unite as AMERICANS and get along; and the only thing to fear is fear itself.

United WE STAND, divided WE FALL.

All the separation of political parties and religions, etc…is media enhanced brainwashing.
THEY WANT US TO BE DIVIDED, SO THEY HAVE ALL THE POWER AND CONTROL.

Once again:  UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL.

Let's UNITE America!
Wake up and stop hating!

Iran puts restrictions on 'Western' social sciences!!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101024/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iran_university_restrictions#mwpphu-container

This story is just awful.

Free thinking, having an open mind, logic, reason, rationality, equality…what's wrong with these things??   Well, it's hard to control your sheep if they get too smart.   That's why we had the dark ages for a thousand years.   Think about where we would be if we had those years back to study science, philosophy, woman and human rights, etc…  You know women just got the right to vote in 1920 !?

I'm sure the religious fundamentalists here (USA) would love to put restrictions on certain subjects being taught as well.   Texas has been wanting to rewrite the textbooks to make them more of a fundamentalist nature.
If it ever happens…I guess it's off to Sweden!

Being gay is not a choice.

All primates (apes) exhibit gay behavior:  gorillas, bonobos, orangutans, chimps and humans.
I believe that you're born gay--simple as that.   We love who we want to love, and whatever sex we are attracted to can not be changed.   As long as no laws are being broken, it isn't anyone's business who you want to love and live your life with.

The gay community should have all the same rights as anybody else; we're all human!
They should be able to get married, serve in the military or anything else they want to do that everyone else can do!

The christian crutch.

"Born agains" are the worst.   They're always an ex-con or someone who has been dependent on alcohol or drugs just like Fox News golden boy, Beck.   I've never met a normal 'born again', they've always had some sort of problem, and it's gets really old.

"Born agains" are so dependent on their faith, that they don't have any scruples and will do anything they can to push their faith in everyone's face.
I would bet anything that this guy (in the article below) was an alcoholic, and if it took believing in magic to clean up his act--fine.   But, give it rest and leave the rest of us alone.   We don't need your newly found faith shoved in our face every chance you get.

How much longer can these two last in politics?

Here's a poster I made.  You like?

These bible-thumpers both believe the Earth is around 6,000 years old.   Really??
Apparently dinosaurs, evolution and astronomy are conspiracies??

*

The current consensus among scientists is that the Earth (and our solar system) is approximately 4.5 billion years old.   (The universe is approximately 13.5 billion years old.)  One of the main ways to come to this conclusion is carbon dating.   Another useful way of measuring the age is using the constant variable of light speed.   Light travels at 186,000 miles per second.   The term light-year comes from the distance light travels in one Earth calendar year.  For example, our solar system is one star system among billions in the Milky Way galaxy.  So, if you had a space shuttle that could travel the speed of light,
it would take over 4 years to get to the star system nearest to our sun (The Centauri star system).   Now, if you wanted to travel from one end of our Milky Way to the other--that's 100,000 light years.   Galaxy to galaxy is millions of light years.  (By the way, there are billions of galaxies.)
The light from distant galaxies have traveled billions of years to reach us, so therefore the universe has been around for billions of years.
Look forward to more astronomical facts in a future blog.

So, should we believe what ancient people wrote down,
who didn't have any understanding of science or the universe,
or should we believe what current scientific discoveries have shown us?

Welcome to my blog!

I'm an atheist who likes to discuss a wide range of topics, including: current events, religion, politics, art, astronomy, science, evolution, etc…I hope my blog finds everybody who is interested in a good friendly debate on these topics.

I also love comedy--smart, edgy, innovative comedy.  Everything from 'Family Guy' and 'Eastbound and Down' to 'The Daily Show' and 'Real Time'.    Jon Stewart and Bill Maher get the highest rank on my list of relevant comedians, who also discuss real issues.

Look for the posts with my joke/photo of the week.

Please comment on anything!

Thanks.
